March 6, 2025 Action Item: Contact Governor Newsom

UC Pride community. We have another chance to stand with and for our trans family, friends, and neighbors. Today, Governor Gavin Newsom premiered the inaugural episode of his podcast, featuring his conversation with the notoriously anti-LGBTQ talking head Charlie Kirk. You can read about that conversation here, but the headlines all report that Newsom professed his agreement with key pieces of the transphobic MAGA agenda.

We encourage you to contact Newsom’s office and remind him that California has an obligation to #ProtectTransYouth. Here's how:

  • Go to gov.ca.gov/contact

  • Scroll down to “Request - General” and click “Leave a comment.”

  • On the next page, select the “Pro” bubble.

  • Write your message in the comment box demanding that California continue to fight for the rights of trans youth.

Thank you for your allyship in action.

March 1st, 2025: Community action: Submit a comment on proposed passport changes

Hello San Diego Community!

Trans Family Support Services is encouraging folks to speak out against the harmful anti-trans passport policy!

The Federal Register is collecting public comments on the new passport policy forcing trans, nonbinary, and intersex people to use their sex assigned at birth when applying for passports. This policy is dangerous—it puts trans, nonbinary and intersex individuals at risk and strips away their right to accurate identification. We have until March 17, 2025 to speak out.

HOW TO TAKE ACTION:
1) Visit tinyurl.com/PassportPolicy
2) Write a comment explaining how this policy threatens the safety and rights of trans, nonbinary and intersex people.
3) Submit your comment before 3/17/25

Thank you for demonstrating your allyship in action.
